NEW BABY ESSENTIALS
The moment you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived with the birth of your child and you and your partner are all set to take the baby home. Now there are a few, lets not say just a few, quite a few baby essentials that you need to get for your bundle of joy. You probably must have been given inputs by friends and family about what to stock up.
Nevertheless, here are a few such baby essentials that you could get:
Diapers – The first thing that comes to mind when we think of babies is diapers, here are a few diaper essentials that you need to get.
- Babies need quite a number of diapers but do not go on a stocking up spree as they grow very quickly.
- Washcloths for diaper changes.
- Bucket and safety pins
- Nappy sacks
- Baby wipes (soft wipes that are gentle on the baby).
- Nappy cream
- Changing mat
- Changing bag while traveling
Baby Clothing – Choose comfy clothing for your baby with no annoying tags or seams. As babies are a little messy and require frequent changing in a day, put on clothes that are simple and trouble- free and which could easily be opened for diaper changes.
- Baby Vests
- Baby Socks
- Scratch mittens
- Caps (woolen in winter, cotton in summer.)
- Snow suit if winter
- Sleep suits depending on the season (warm clothing in the winters and summer clothes in the summer season).
Baby Bathing Kit
- Baby bath (also inclusive of thermometer, towels, potty
- Shampoo, Baby soap, sponge, flannel
- Baby brush/comb, scissors
- Baby lotion, oil, talc
- Baby towel (soft towels )
Sleeping kit
- For the initial months a Moses Basket, crib or carry cot will be needed. The cot must be strong and the mattress needs to firmly fit the baby’s head so that it can not get stuck in any spaces.
- Mattress: always go for hard and strong mattress. Choose ones with a plastic cover on.
- Sheets: Fitted sheets are easy to handle and can cost you just a bit more. Purchase at least more than four as they call for changing quite often.
- Several light blankets: choose soft light colors. Keep your baby close to you in the nights for the first few months and DO NOT use a pillow.
Also try and get other essentials that you think will be required by the baby like baby furniture and most importantly toys that he’d love to play with.
